Dance Network is a dance studio in Walker, Michigan that offers recreational as well as competitive dance classes.  We provide classes for the beginner all the way up through advanced dancers in genres such as tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, ballroom, and much more!  Dance Network prides itself on having fun, enjoyable classes while providing a positive learning environment for dancers of all ages.

Amber Petersen

Amber Petersen is a teacher and director of Dance Network.  She started dancing at the age of 5.  Amber has competed nationally and taken classes from Savion Glover, Sam Fiorello, and Hank Craptree.  She has taught tap classes since she was sixteen years old and in 2012 took over the ownership of Dance Network.  Amber’s choreography has won many special judges awards and top ten awards at regional competitions. Outside of the studio, Amber enjoys watching her two daughters dance and play sports.

Danelle Hyde

Danelle started her dance career at the young age of 3 and has been dancing with Dance Network since the age of 5.  She competed jazz and contemporary for Dance Network for 6 years.  At the age of 14 she took her love for dance to the next level and became a teacher’s assistant, and by the time she was 18 was a teacher/choreographer. In 2012, Danelle became one of our competition choreographers for lyrical, contemporary, and tap and has since won several awards for the excellent entertainment and choreography in her routines. Aside from her work at Dance Network, Danelle danced and performed with the Grand Rapids Groove, choreographed for several years for the Northview High School Cheerleading program, as well as choreographed for the charity event, BID for Bachelors and Bachelorettes benefiting individuals with cystic fibrosis. Danelle has her Associates of Liberal Arts from Grand Rapids Community College, where she furthered her passion for dance by enrolling in several jazz classes, as well as her Associates of Applied Science in veterinary technology from Baker College. When she isn’t at the studio, Danelle works as a licensed veterinary technician at Standale Veterinary Hospital, or is spending time with her husband and kitties and getting ready to become a mommy in November 2015!

Kayeleigh Eder

My name is Kayeleigh Eder. I am seventeen years old and currently a senior at West Catholic High School. This will be my fifteenth year taking lessons at Dance Network. I have taken classes in every discipline offered from ballet to hip hop to tap and have competed in almost just as many. This year I will be competing in the jazz, lyrical, tap, and hip hop groups. It is impossible for me to pick a favorite type of dance, I love every style in its own unique way! Outside of dance, I am co-captain of the Varsity Sideline and Competitive Cheer teams as well as the Varsity Tennis team at my high school. Along with athletics, I am a member of several clubs including Women’s Leadership Group, Peer Ministry, and I am Secretary for the Class of 2016. This will be my first year teaching, though I have been a demo and substitute teacher for the past 3 years. I am extremely excited to join the long list of fabulous teachers that Dance Network has to offer!

Megan Schaefer

Megan has been dancing since the age of 9 and has been teaching at Dance Network for 2 years.  Her favorite styles are jazz and hiphop, which she has also competed in at Dance Network. Megan currently teaches some of our children’s combination classes as well as some of our hip hop classes. In high school, Megan was on the Kenowa Hill’s dance team for all four years, and was a Varsity member for 3 years. Megan has also been a dancer for The Haunt in Grand Rapids. Megan is currently a student at Western Michigan University where she is studying to become a child life specialist. Outside of dance, Megan enjoys spending time with her two dogs and going kayaking.

Olivia Bundy

Olivia has danced for 18 years, six of which have been competitively. Over the years, Olivia has danced on Kenowa Hills High School Varsity Dance Team, and was recognized as a captain for 4 seasons. She also was a member of the Davenport University Dance Team for the 2012-2013 season, where she worked with incredibly talented instructors. Olivia has performed with, and contributed choreography to, groups such as Motor City Movement, local Dance Teams, and various independent groups throughout her career. Her favorite styles of dance to perform are hip hop and jazz/modern. She loves sharing her love of dance through teaching, and hopes to keep dancing for many, many years to come.
Outside of dance, Olivia loves spending time with her dog, Calvin, her family and friends, working at Keller Williams Realty, and earning her degree in Advertising and Public Relations at Grand Valley State University.

Brianne Ide

Brianne is a dancer, choreographer and teacher from Grand Rapids, MI. She began dancing at the age of 8 after attending her cousin’s dance recital. It was then where she was inspired and started taking dance classes the next fall. She fell in love and dance has been her passion since. Brianne has danced competitively since age 9 in various styles however, jazz and hip hop is where her heart is. Her love of choreography started in high school on the varsity dance team where she was member and captain all 4 years. She started choreographing for games and competitions adding pom and kick line to her resume. Once she graduated, Brianne went on to coaching all levels of dance team and teaching company jazz and hip hop at The Dance Network. She has judged at local competitions, danced professionally at The Haunt since 2007, performed at Motor City Movement, competed at the National level and even danced alongside Britney Spears. Besides teaching dance in the evenings, she is a full time nursing student and will be graduating at the end of 2015. When she is not in the books or on the dance floor, Brianne spends most of her time being wife and mommy.

Karley Dorner

Karley Dorner has been dancing since the age of 3. She trained at The Turning Pointe School for The Performing Arts in St. Clair Shores, MI. Karley has studied a variety of styles, including jazz, ballet, modern, contemporary, lyrical, tap and hip-hop. Karley was named Senior Female VIP at JUMP Dance Convention in 2009, and was awarded a 4-week scholarship to the Edge Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles, CA. She went on to study dance at Grand Valley State University and has worked with guest artists such as Lizzie Mackenzie, Alex Springer, Lauren Edson, Autumn Eckman, and Julie Blume- to name a few. Karley has performed alongside Thodos Dance Chicago in Vivaldi’s The Four Seasons in Dance, for Grand Valley’s Fall Arts Celebration, and performed in the Dance Chicago festival with Grand Valley Dance Company. Karley graduated from Grand Valley with a Bachelor’s in Dance, and continues to pursue a career in dance by teaching and dancing whenever she gets the chance!

Mackenzie Hartwell

Currently attending Grand Rapids Community College with intent to transfer to Central Michigan University in Fall of 2016 to study Marketing and Professional Sales. Graduated from West Catholic High School in 2014. I have been dancing since the age of 3 and teaching for 6 years now. I appreciate all styles of dance and have taken classes in numerous genres of dance throughout the years, however I am truly a jazzerina at heart.

Nicole Janes

Nicole is a passionate teacher/choreographer from Grand  Rapids, MI. Her dance career began at the age of two and a half at The Dance Network. After her first recital she is quoted saying, “Mamma I like it up there!” Nicole has been dancing ever since, competing in jazz, hip hop and contemporary for 7 years winning various awards. Nicole began teaching at Dance Network at the age  of 17. She has been the competitive hip hop instructor for several years and has won multiple entertainment awards for her hip hop choreography. In 2014 her hip hop choreography won a creative concept award. Aside from teaching/dancing at Dance Network she has coached dance team at Kenowa Hills High School, danced with the Grand Rapids Groove, and choreographed Seussical  Jr. for a local middle school. When Nicole isn’t teaching or dancing she is working as a cosmetologist at Alpine Hair and Day Spa. At home she spends her time as a wife and mommy.
